Kate and Shawn Boyer founded Anatomie in 2006 after years in the activewear business. Budapest-born Kate got a MBA in International Trade in France, while working as a girls’ gymnastics coach and dressing the team in outfits she designed herself. From there, the self-taught designer developed private label collections for many exclusive resorts in St. Barth. She met her husband Shawn in Miami, where the Ohio native was designing customized clothing for hard-to-fit athletic men. The two joined forces to design sportswear for brands such as Elite Models,

Tired of a sea of boring and neutral shoes, Mary Sue and Yvette launched Ashbury Skies in 2011. Their vision was to create a virtual shoe closet.  Both worked for major retailers and had made lasting connections that helped make this vision a reality. They curated a collection of shoes from small independent shoe designers like nothing else in the market. If you like safe and practical, go to a department store or some other mega online retailer. If you want to smile every time you open your closet doors, then Ashbury Skies is your home for shoes.

Barbell Apparel was founded with a simple vision: clothing should be better. Founded by a team of friends and athletes, we started our story by launching our Athletic Fit Jeans on Kickstarter. That campaign grew past our wildest expectations, becoming the 2nd most funded fashion project of all time, and sparking a change across the fashion industry to bring “Athletic Fit” mainstream. Since then, we’ve launched three more successful Kickstarter campaigns, been featured on ABC’s Shark Tank, and sold out of our Athletic Fit Havok Polo over 3 times.

At only 18, Solomon Boscov left his family in Russia and immigrated to the United States in 1914. He settled in Reading, PA where the Yiddish he spoke at home was similar to the German spoken by the Pennsylvania Dutch farmers throughout Berks and Lancaster County. With a pack on his back and with the few dollars he had, he began peddling household goods to the farm families in the surrounding area. He developed a reputation of fairness and honesty.

Born in Vietnam, Danh Tran grew up working in his family’s small tailor shop. By the age of ten, he was designing and sewing his own clothes – and dreaming of coming to America to become a fashion designer.

Danh is proof that dreams really do come true. In 1994, his family immigrated to California. He took fashion classes at a local college and landed a job at Mattel – designing clothes for Barbie. When he had saved enough money, he enrolled in his dream school, Otis College of Art and Design. After graduating he was recruited by 7 for All Mankind, then House of Howe (Union Bay), and later Affliction Clothing, where he was Head Designer for 10 years.

In the late 1800’s, Dana Buxton had started his own business distributing small notions.  Ironically, his most profitable business idea actually began with a loss.  One day Dana had the misfortune of losing his keys through a hole in the pocket of his pants.  His wife, Julia, turned that misfortune around by making him a small leather pouch to hold his keys.  Family and friends showed an interest in having their own pouches and thus a new small leather goods business was born.  Buxton Company was formally organized in 1898.
